Unfolding Ancestral Mysteries and Finding Global Connections: My iGENEA DNA Test Adventure
Family name Strom
A review of my enlightening encounter with the iGENEA DNA test, tracing my lineage, specifically my last name - Strom, connecting me with unexpected distant relatives global, all the while throwing light on my real ancestral roots.
I recently decided to get a bit more personal with my ancestry by taking the iGENEA DNA test. This scientific journey led me into uncharted territories that opened up a new world of understanding about my lineage, specifically my surname - Strom.
The kits arrived promptly and the test itself was quite easy to use. It involved producing a saliva sample using the swabs provided. The process felt quite seamless, and the package came with detailed instructions, ensuring a mistake-proof procedure.
Upon sending my kit back for analysis, the waiting game began. The anticipation was high, but I was impressed that in just a few weeks, I received my comprehensive assessment which revealed surprising, fascinating, and mind-expanding insights.
I had obviously known that Strom was a Scandinavian name, but the DNA test further elaborated on its distinct lineage and ancestral path. It traced back not only to the Viking era but surprisingly, to a small indigenous Sami population in Northern Scandinavia, something I'd never have imagined! This revelation was definitely the highlight and it made me perceive my inheritance in a whole new light.
The one thing I truly loved about the iGENEA DNA test is how it allows you to connect with other people sharing your surname. In my case, I was able to locate a bunch of Stroms from different parts of the globe, specifically, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. We've been engaging in enlightening history exchanges ever since, tracing back our common ancestors and sharing familial traditions. It felt like a reunion of long-lost relatives, connecting dots we never knew existed.
However, the process wasn't without its limitations. While I found a generous number of Stroms, not all of them were open to connecting or sharing information. Also, the database's reach could still be broadened for a truly global reach.
But overall, the iGENEA DNA test was a fun, insightful ride that led me down the intriguing paths of my ancestry, connecting me with distant 'relatives,' and leaving me with a deeper appreciation of my surname and its origin. It was indeed a worthwhile experience!
