Siscoe: What does the surname Siscoe mean?
The surname Siscoe is considered to be of English origin, although its exact meaning is somewhat uncertain. Some researchers suggest that it could be derived from the medieval English name "Sysse" or "Cisco", which is thought to be a pet form or nickname of the name Francis. In this context, "Cisco" would mean "Frenchman", so Siscoe could be interpreted as "son of the Frenchman". Another possibility is that Siscoe is a variant of the surname Sissons or Sessions, derived from "son of Sis", with "Sis" being a nickname for Simon.
However, without definitive historical records, these are only speculations. Surnames can often be traced back to a trade, location, characteristic, or ancestor's name. But, in the case of Siscoe, without further information, it is challenging to assign a specific meaning. It's important to remember that the meaning or origin of a last name could depend heavily on its cultural and geographical history. Therefore, further ancestry research might provide more concrete answers for specific families with this surname.

From my research Siscoe is not Norman in origin because the Sysse Middle English actually comes from Syssa which is sawer of wood in Old English.
