The first place of origin of the name is Rühle near meppen in historic East Friesland with origins pre-800-bc and currently listed by the Oxford Dictionary of names as a short form of rudolf, a prominent mention of the family in northern Germany was bishop of verden Rudolf II. Rühle in 1365, the name can be traced later to Hesse and Wittenberg where a johan Rühel had multiple corrispondence with Martin luther(viewable online) one even directly quoted “kill the peasants and let god sort them out”, another correspondence noted rühel as Luther’s brother in law, after the peasant wars that ended with the Wittenbergers taking wurttemberg to the pike they grew grapes and multiplied across Europe attending French and Italian schools and in my case taking the zee ploeg to America, which never made it, but that’s beside the point, there’s really quite a lot available to you(writer)… and you think you’re Swiss.
