Surname Pittmon - Meaning and Origin

all surnames with 'P'

Pittmon: What does the surname Pittmon mean?

The last name Pittmon does not have a widely recognized or specific meaning recorded in surnames history or genealogy resources because it is quite rare and likely originated as a regional or familial variation of another surname. Some researchers suggest it might be of English origin since it seems to contain elements from some English last names, e.g., Pitt and Mon. "Pitt" often refers to a pit, hole, or a hollow, frequently given as a topographic name for someone who lived near such a feature. The suffix "mon" may be a variation of “man,” frequently found in English surnames. However, without concrete historical or genealogical records, these are speculative interpretations. The meaning of the surname can be better understood with more specific family history and origin information. For accurate interpretation, it's advised to refer to detailed genealogical research or family records.
