An Intriguing Journey Into My Past: DNA Analysis and The History of My Family Name, Perea

Family name Perea

After recently delving into a DNA analysis through iGENEA, I uncovered fascinating aspects of my family history, specifically my family name, Perea. The revelations not only traversed through the geographical history of my ancestors but also shed light upon the meaning of my surname. The journey was enlightening, and broadened my understanding significantly.

Having recently undertaken a DNA analysis test at iGENEA, I was able to gain comprehensive insights into my family history, specifically focusing on my family name, Perea. Post undergoing the test, I found myself endeavoring on an intriguing journey through time, tracing back my lineage and embracing an entirely new understanding of my origin and familial roots. The journey revealed fascinating aspects about the history and lineage of the Perea family that I had previously been unaware of.

My analysis began with a DNA sample collection, a simple, non-invasive procedure that enabled iGENEA to examine my paternal lineage. It was fascinating to learn that the Perea name has been passed down through generations originating from the Iberian Peninsula. My ancestors were identified as Sephardic Jews who, during the Spanish Inquisition, sought refuge in various countries, namely, Mexico, and a significant population ended up establishing roots in New Mexico, in the United States.

The analysis shed new light on the origin of my surname, Perea. The name derives from the ancient Hebrew term 'Pere,' which means 'wild.' It is intriguing to note that the Perea family were adventurous voyagers, never hesitating from exploring new terrains, attributes that are suitably reflected in the family name.

The conclusion drawn from the genetic analysis also indicated that I belong to the larger Haplogroup R-M269, commonly observed in Western Europe. This data resonated with the geographical movements of the Perea lineage, establishing a deeper connection between my genetic makeup and my ancestral roots.

The collaborative approach implemented by iGENEA and their detailed explanation of my DNA results have significantly broadened my understanding of my family history. My Perea roots are no longer confined to names on a family tree, disclosed in old family tales. Instead, they reflect the undeniable adventurous spirit and resilience of my ancestors that has permeated through generations and has ultimately, characterized who I am today.

Overall, the DNA analysis at iGENEA has been an insightful and enlightening experience, encouraging me to delve deeper into my Perea roots and consequently expanding my comprehension of family history in the process.
