Unraveling Celtic Roots: An Intriguing Tryst with My Hodson Lineage Through iGENEA DNA Test

Family name Hodson

Recently, I sought to satisfy my curiosity about my genetic origins by submitting an iGENEA DNA test. A comprehensive examination of the genetic markers signifying historic migrations and ancestral roots unraveled insights into my heritage. The results surrounding the Hodson surname have sparked an exciting exploration of my roots and have helped me identify my roots firmly in Celtic origins.

In my quest for a profound understanding of my lineage, I submitted an iGENEA DNA test. This genealogical examination throws light on the genetic makeup of an individual by comparing DNA markers. It unveils the potential migration patterns and ancestral roots of the lineage. Applied to the extraction and examination of my DNA, these results, particularly tied to the surname Hodson, have revealed fascinating insights.

The Hodson surname pertains to the enigmatic and deeply rooted Celtic origins on my maternal side. The symphony of genetic markers corroborates this hypothesis by signifying an intimate association with the regions of contemporary western Europe that were once renowned Celtic strongholds.

Given the prevalence of R1b-YDNA markers, it is prominently found among men in western Europe, the Hodson lineage strengthens its Celtic bonds. It marks a city's Celtic lineage that survived the Roman invasions, and the attempts by the Romans to obliterate their unique culture and customs.

The occurrence of mtDNA haplogroup H, typically associated with the Celtic maternal heritage, is notably high, confirming inexplicably matriarchal Celtic roots. This haplogroup can be traced back to the Paleolithic period and is significantly common among the indigenous populations of Europe.

The findings have debunked the conjecture about the Anglo-Saxon origins of the Hodson lineage. The presence of Fenno-Ugric markers was surprisingly absent, undermining another previously held conjecture about the Scandinavian essence of the Hodson lineage.

These findings verify the Hodson lineage's survival against socio-political shifts and a multitude of devastating invasions throughout historical clans' millennia. Surprisingly, a patch of Hodson lineage seems to have migrated to Asia Minor in the Middle Ages, perhaps as merchants or crusaders, given the presence of haplogroup G2a markers.

Ultimately, my iGENEA DNA test results have fostered an exciting and profound exploration of my ancestral ancestry. They provide a riveting trek through the annals of history, revealing the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of my ancestors – the resilient and unyielding Hodson lineage.

G. Hodson
